I have spent years and spent an obscene amount of money looking for a cap that actually holds up over time.

Either pushing down on your ears or sitting so high it feels ready to blow away at any second.
When we set out to create the signature cap for Henry Simon Studio, we knew we couldn't just order off-the-shelf blanks. We spent months testing samples, adjusting proportions, and sourcing different materials to build a cap that truly feels like a true daily essential.
Here is our breakdown of what actually defines a great cap and how we designed our cap.
1. Crown Geometry & Depth
The problem:
Too deep, and it hits your ears awkwardly. Too shallow, and it lacks stability.
Our soloution:
We developed a tailored mid-to-deep profile with semi-structured front panels. It holds a crisp silhouette from every angle while keeping a relaxed, natural feel.
2. Material & Structure
The problem:
Most caps feel great when they're brand new. The real test starts after wearing them fifty, one hundred, or two hundred times.
Lightweight fabrics lose their shape. Cheap materials crease easily. And once the crown starts giving up, the entire silhouette of the cap changes.
Our solution:
We tested a wide range of fabrics and constructions before settling on heavier, premium-weight cotton with enough structure to hold its shape without feeling stiff.
The goal was simple: a cap that looks just as good after months of wear as it did on day one.
Because a great cap should not need to be treated like it's made of glass.
3. The Brim
The problem:
The brim is something that is easy to overlook, but it completely changes how a cap sits on your head.
Too flat, and it can feel overly stiff. Too curved, and the cap starts to look dated or overly sporty.
Our solution:
We developed a brim with a natural curve that works straight out of the box, but can still be shaped to your preference.
It's one of those details you might not consciously notice.
But you notice when it's wrong.
4. The Fit
The problem:
Finding the right balance between a secure fit and a comfortable one is surprisingly difficult.
Too tight, and you're constantly thinking about that you're wearing a cap. Too loose, and you are adjusting it every few minutes.
Neither is acceptable for something designed to be worn every single day.
Our solution:
We focused heavily on the relationship between crown depth, opening size and adjustability.
The result is a fit that feels secure without putting unnecessary pressure around your head or ears.
It should sit naturally
not fight you.
5. The Details
The problem:
A lot of caps try to stand out by adding more.
More logos. More stitching. More branding.
We wanted the opposite.
Our solution:
Every detail on the Henry Simon Studio cap has a purpose.
From the proportions of the embroidery to the stitching, hardware and internal construction, we wanted everything to feel considered without making the cap feel overly designed.
The goal was not to make the loudest cap in the room.
It was to make the one you keep reaching for, the one that people ask where it is from.
6. Designed to Be Worn
Ultimately, we didn't want to create a cap that looked impressive in a product photo and ended up sitting in the back of your wardrobe. Because we have caps like that, that you buy, wear once and then never touch again.
We wanted a cap that could become part of your everyday uniform.
Throw it on when you're heading out for coffee. Wear it travelling. Wear it with a T-shirt in summer or a heavier jacket in winter.
It should work without you having to have a secon thought about it.
That is what we mean by a daily essential.
So: what actually makes the perfect cap?
For us, it's not one specific feature.
It's the combination of the fit, structure, materials, proportions and restraint.
